ASPS Welcomes Hylaform Plus to Plastic Surgeons’ Injectable Filler Cache
For Immediate Release: October 18, 2004
Arlington Heights, Ill. -- With the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) approval of Hylaform Plus, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons welcomes the addition of this newest wrinkle-fighting injectable to the growing collection of fillers currently available to Americans looking for minimally invasive ways to smooth their faces.
“This new hylauronic acid-based product gives us another choice for wrinkle filling and facial shaping for our patients,” said Scott Spear, MD, ASPS President. “The manufacturing company contends that this product will last longer and work effectively for the deepest facial wrinkles. We’re excited have another product available to us as the demand for minimally invasive procedures keeps growing.”
Last year, more than 3.6 million Americans fought aging, smoothing wrinkles with injectables, including Botox, collagen, fat, Radiance, Restylane and Hylaform, according to ASPS.
Hylaform Plus, an Inamed Aesthetics product, is a hyaluronic-based soft tissue filler to plump moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. According to the manufacturer, Hylaform Plus is a clear, colorless product with a larger hyaluronic gel acid particle than in Hylaform, Inamed’s first hyaluronic acid-based product for less severe wrinkles.
Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the body, making allergic reactions rare. The body naturally absorbs Hylaform Plus over time.
