Breast Lift – Denver Mastopexy
There are several reasons a woman may make the decision to undergo a breast lift procedure. Breasts can begin to drop over time due to natural aging, pregnancy and nursing, weight loss or gain, or even genetics. Women who are dissatisfied with the downward migration of their breasts may be considering a Breast Lift procedure to rejuvenate and bring a more youthful appearance make to their breasts.
In a Breast Lift procedure an incision will be made usually around the areola and remove excess skin which is causing them to sag. In some cases the areola may be repositioned high on the breasts to be better aligned with the newly positioned breasts. The areola can also be re-sized or re-shaped depending on your individual needs and desires. Next, the remaining skin is closed around the areola to create firmer, perkier, more youthful breasts. If size is also a concern, a Breast Lift procedure may be coupled with a Breast Augmentation procedure to create the most optimal results. If the breast procedure is performed post-pregnancy, it can be combined with procedures such as a Tummy Tuck or Liposuction for a Mommy Makeover.

Isolaz™ Photofacial
Photofacial (Sun Damage Removal, Freckles and Acne Discoloration Reduction)
Many lucky celebrities are photoshopped in most of the pictures they take, making their skin appear flawless and picture perfect. For those of us who are not privy to the star treatment there are Photofacial treatments that one could say is like Photoshop in real life. Photofacial light therapy treatments give individuals that flawless, silky smooth appearance that many celebrities don in the magazines. The beauty of Photofacial treatments is that they are non-invasive and have very minor side effects AND yield a noticeable result in just one treatment. Even though results are delivered in just one session, a series of three to five may be recommended depending on the condition of your skin. There’s no waiting around for results here!
What is it and how does it work?
These treatments are best for reducing brown or dark spots in the skin and evening out skin tone. The name itself is quite misleading as a Photofacial is not a facial at all! To put it simply, a Photofacial machine utilizes Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to target hyperpigmentation (aka brown spots) on the surface of the skin. These high energy light beams selectively build up heat in the hyperpigmented spots and this heat essentially damages the dark spot- this is a good thing, promise! This damage will show up as a “coffee ground” on the skin the next day. In 5-10 days the coffee grounds will flake off revealing a more even skin tone and 20-30% less brown pigmentation. This can easily make you look five years younger!
What makes the Photofacial so popular is that this minor damage only affects the darkened spot and the rest of the skin is remained unharmed. This means you can go about your normal routine and no one will you had anything done until you see the results ten days later.
The actual procedure itself is virtually painless. Imagine lying on a facial bed with protective eye wear and feeling a slight pinch and heat in small areas over the face for about 15-20 minutes. At most, some patients report feeling a slight stinging sensation, much like the gentle snapping of a rubber band against the skin.
Am I a candidate?
This treatment is most appropriate for individuals with lighter colored skin as darkening of the skin may occur in rare cases of Photofacial treatments in darker skinned men and women.
Depending upon the extent of skin damage, usually between 2 to 4 treatments are required to fully realize the desired results.
Is there any downtime?
No, since no harsh chemicals are being used or deep penetrating laser beams, Photofacial treatments have no downtime. A very slight swelling and blushing of the skin may appear immediately following the treatment and will last for 1-2 hours. Most individuals are able to return to their daily routine right after the procedure is finished. For up to one week, the freckles or sun spots will appear slightly darker before flaking off. This is easily concealed with make-up. In 5-10 days, you will see the full result and hyperpigmentation will be significantly lighter. Up to five treatments may be needed to achieve the best result.
Lip Augmentation – Fuller Lips in Denver
Fuller more plump lips have long been considered a most sensuous and coveted asset, particularly among women. With pouts like those belonging to Scarlett Johansson, Angelina Jolie and Jessica Biel out in the world, it’s no wonder products like lip plumping lip glosses have inundated the drug store market. These glosses, however, produce only minimal results that often sting or burn while in use and then quickly fade. If you want fuller, more luscious lips the best option for most is Lip Augmentation.
With Lip Augmentation, Squires Plastic Surgery will use injectable fillers — such as Restylane®, JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel, or collagen — to enhance you lips. We may also harvest fat from another part of your body and re-inject it into your lips.
Plumping the lips also has the advantage of smoothing out those wrinkles and creases that form around the lips as we age, a particular occurrence in thinner lips, which will give you a more youthful, healthy appearance overall.

Which Surgery Should Be Done First – Breast Augmentation or Tummy Tuck?
Question for Denver Plastic Surgeon Dr. John Squires about Tummy Tuck:
I am a mother of two with a sagging stomach when I bend at the waist. When standing, it’s not saggy – just an excess layer of loose fat beneath the skin that I cannot work off with exercise. If considering a tummy tuck & breast augmentation, which of these surgeries should be done first and which second to get the best overall results? I do have very young children, and therefore think it would be best to break up the surgeries so I can have a more manageable recovery period and manage them.
Answer from Dr. John Squires:
You can do both breast augmentation and tummy tuck at the same time. This will save you both on total cost and recovery time.

Planning for my Mommy Makeover, How Much Time Should I Prepare to Not Lift my Twins?
Question for Denver Plastic Surgeon Dr. John Squires about Mommy Makeover:
I’m planning on having breast augment & tummy tuck in one procedure (like a ‘mommy makeover’). My twins are 10months (my boy is quite a big guy, weighs 25 lbs or more, I weigh 106, plus, I have an older child). I was thinking of hiring help for the first 2 weeks after the surgery (lifting kids etc). Do you think 2 weeks will be sufficient? Will I be able to lift my kids & take care of them after 2 wks again? Not worried about the pain, but will it affect how the scars develop?? Thanks!
Answer from Dr. John Squires:
Traditional plastic surgeons were taught to not have patients lift more than 10-15 lbs. for 6 weeks after abdominoplasty. This was to prevent the muscle sutures from pulling out and spoiling the result. I repair the muscle in two layers, which makes a very strong repair. I caution people to tighten their abdominal muscles before lifting, use mostly their legs and go by what their body is telling them. For the past 10 years I have allowed patients to lift their kids at 1 week and have not had any repairs fail. This makes sense to me considering that coughing or sneezing puts way more stress on the repair than reasonable lifting.
Breast Reduction and Exercise
Question for Denver Plastic Surgeon Dr. John Squires about Breast Reduction:
If I do chest exercises and build an underlying muscle will it lift and shrink my breasts, I am a 32D and I hate that they are so big and sag quite a bit for my age ( I am 20). SO I am looking for a way to fix those problems I want smaller breasts but I also would like them to sit higher up once I get there without surgery.
Answer from Dr. John Squires:
Building the muscles under the breasts will only make them more prominent. Exercise will do nothing to tighten the breast skin or breast tissue. The only way to reduce the sag is with a surgical lift.
How Long Will It Take for Breast Tissue to Settle After Breast Lift Revision?
Question for Denver Plastic Surgeon Dr. John Squires about Breast Lift Revision:
Had revision breast lift in one breast & scar revision in 1/2011. 1st lift was performed 12/2009. First surgery left me quite asymmetrical. Right breast measured 21 cm from sternal notch while the left measured 19 cm. I’m extremely worried that the breast that was relifted appears way too high. The surgeon’s nurse explained that he “tacked” my breast tissue to my chest wall because that is his technique. First surgeon never did any tacking. Is it too early for me to panic about my results?!
Answer from Dr. John Squires:
The breast tissue will take time to settle, up to 3-6 months. Since your most recent surgery was just on one breast, some asymmetry is expected. I would wait at least 6 months before considering any more surgery.
Are There Options For a Breast Lift Without Evidence Of Surgery or Scarring?
Question for Denver Plastic Surgeon Dr. John Squires about Breast Lifts:
What procedure could be done for a breasts lift which will not leave evidence of cosmetic surgery or scaring. I have seen videos and I am afraid of noticible scars. My breast sit on my abdoment and my nipple are shifted looking downward. I am a 34DD.
Answer from Dr. John Squires:
Small amounts of lifting can be done with only an incision around the areola, the so called Benelli lift. I frequently use this for combination lift and implants. It usually gives a very good scar but is only useful for small lifts. Downward pointing nipples will require a more powerful lift such as vertical mastopexy. These scars are more noticable but usually fade with time.
Denver Breast Augmentation
Statistics shows that approximately two million women in the United States have breast implants and about 250,000 elect for this procedure each year. Surprisingly, the average age of these ladies is 34 and the majority of them go through the procedure after giving birth. This only shows that more and more women are concerned about the way they look, and it is applicable for women from different age groups. With the breasts having an impact on one’s sexual attractiveness, it is normal for ladies to dream of having fuller and rounder breasts.
What is breast augmentation? Who is a good candidate for this procedure? These are questions that you need to answer before you undergo surgery to increase your cup size.
What is breast augmentation? It is a surgical procedure wherein saline or silicone implants are placed under or on top of the chest muscle via incisions made under the breast, within the armpit, or in the lower edge of the areola.
Who is a good candidate for the procedure? Anyone who feels that her breasts are too small, women whose breasts are no longer firm due to pregnancy and delivery, people with discrepancies in breast size, and ladies who want their breasts to be full and round are all good candidates for breast augmentation. Just as with any procedure, our plastic surgeons will evaluate the patient beforehand. A thorough medical history will be taken. The breasts will also be examined and pictures may be taken for the medical record and for comparison later on.
The first step that you need to take is to request a consultation with one of our plastic surgeons to discuss your goals, the type and position of implant, location of the incision, and the size that you want.
Finally, be sure to go for an experienced, talented, and board-certified plastic surgeon. Dr. John Squires a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Denver, Colorado can surely help you achieve your aesthetic goals.
